Councillor killed
PA Palmerston North A Pahiatua County councillor was killed in an explosion on his farm on Monday afternoon. He was Maxwell Nolan Bicknell, aged 33, of Mangatainoka.
The police said that Mr Bicknell was welding a drum when it exploded, killing him instantly.
