N.Z. gallopers’ last chance
NZPA-AAP Sydney The New Zealand gallopers, Fountaincourt and Stylish Dude, will make a last ditch attempt to pick up a race before returning home when they line up in the sAustso,ooo (?NZ70,000) Sunbeam Gosford Gold Cup (2100 m today. The two gallopers fly home on Friday morning after a disappointing trip in which neither horse has been able to win a race, although Fountaincourt has shown worth-while form. He has started four times
and was beaten only a short head when second to Chiamare in the weight-for-age Queen Elizabeth Stakes (2000 m at Randwick on April 23 and then ran a game fourth to Trissaro in the Sydney Cup (3200 m at 'the same track last Saturday.
The five-year-old gelding also ran a close fourth to Mr McGinty in the weight-for-age Rawson Stakes (2000 m at Rosehill on March 31 before a fifth to Hayai in the weight-for-age Tancred Stakes (2400 m at that course on April 14. Fountaincourt, to be ridden today by the in-form John Marshall is the class horse of the field with 15 wins. The main obstacles for the tough campaigner today will be the 58kg he has to lump and coming back in distance from the 3200 m of the Sydney Cup.
