Farming leaders to push trade case

PA Wellington Federated Farmers leaders have left for an overseas tour to continue the battle for increased agricultural produce access on world markets. The president, Mr R. Storey, said he included Europe on the itinerary to reinforce the case being made by the Government and producer board leaders for New Zealand’s continued access for butter and lamb. The visit comes at a time when the European Econo-

mic Community is considering New Zealand’s proposal for a long-term agreement on butter access. Mr Storey and Federated Farmers chief executive, Mr R. McLagan, will attend the general congress of the International Federation of Agricultural Producers at New Delhi, and will spend time in Japan and South Korea meeting farming leaders and government officials to study New Zealand’s agricultural trading position and to discuss trading opportunities.
