Death ends fraud court case

PA Auckland Two fraud charges against an accountant involving a $15,000 cheque from the Sweetwaters organisation have been withdrawn in the District Court at Auckland. Counsel, Mr Anthony Grove, said the accused had died last week and the next of kin had asked him to apply for an interim name suppression to be made permanent. Mr Grove said the relatives were naturally distressed and he asked that their burden not be added to by publication of the accused’s name. Judge Gilbert made a final order suppressing the man’s name.
