Regional noxious plants officers

PA Tauranga The Government will appoint a new group of regional noxious plants officers, said the member of Parliament for Kaimai, Mr D. B. Townshend, yesterday. Mr Townshend, opening the annual conference of the Institute of Noxious Plants Officers in Tauranga, said that the new group of officers would be regional field staff who would complement the regional noxious plants co-ordinating committees and shorten the chain of communication between the Noxious Plants Council and the district noxious plants authorities. The authorities employ noxious plants officers who work in each district. The officers will be employed by the council. Mr Townshend said that they should be particularly valuable in improving the effectiveness of the special subsidised project sesames.
