Yachting results
Doug McConnell, of Canterbury, found conditions on Akaroa Harbour exactly to his liking during the recent South Island trailer yacht championships. He sailed Waveform to victory in all four heats of the Farr 6000 restricted division. Racing was much closer in the other classes. The Farr 6000 class was eventually won by Keith Drewitt in Interceptor, who just edged out Trevor Shapland (Bloodshot) and Bill Ruske (Izzy). Tony Lugg, in Geronimo, gained the upper hand over Chris White (Head Office) and Dave Lloyd (Extravagance) in the Farr 6000 s,
although his win is subject to protest. Results (all names Canterbury unless otherwise stated):— Farr 6000: Interceptor (K. Drewitt), 5.7, 1; Bloodshot (T. Shapland), 8.7, 2; Izzy (W. Ruske), 9, 3. Restricted division: Waveform (D. McDonnell), 0,1; Marina II (B. Smith, Oamaru), 9,2. Handicap: Toss for Boss (R. Pitcaithley) 1, Gonzo (S. England) 2, Aphrodite (A. Vasta) 3. Farr 7500, provisional only: Geronimo (A. Lugg), 3,1; Head Office (C. White), 8.7, 2; Extravagance (D. Lloyd), 14.4, 3. Handicap: Excalibur (M. Bullard) 1, Attila the Hun (D. Smithey) 2, Panache (B.
