Maddie, trained at Highbank by Pat O’Reilly, sen., led throughout the two-year-old fillies’ mile in 2min 4.8 s at the Peninsula Owners and Breeders . Association’s trials at Motueka on Saturday. Loveridge led over the last 1000 m in the juvenile colt and geldings’ pace in 2min 6.55, beating Master Mood, which was late working clear by a length and a half. Givanna, from a half-sis-
ter to the dam of the fine trotting winners, Harvey Wilson, Jenover and Zebec, recovered after a mistake in the middle stages to win her final for three-year-old trotting fillies in 2min 11.55. Globe Tour, which has recovered from a muscular problem which forced him to miss the New Zealand Trotting Stakes earlier this month, finished fast to beat Not Now in the three-year-old colt and geldings’ trot in a slow 2min 13s.
