Good start in squash
NZPA-Reuter Calgary, Canada New Zealand had a successful first day of team competition at the world junior squash championship in Calgary yesterday. New Zealand beat Malaysia, 2-1, and The Netherlands, 3-0. Sweden beat Malaysia, 3-0, and The Netherlands, 2-1. England defeated Canada, 2-1, and the United States, 3-0. In other games, Finland won 2-1 over Wales, Pakistand beat Germany, 3-0,
Scotland dumped West Germany, 3-0, Australia trounced Finland, 3-0, and Canada defeated Ireland, 30. The individual championship was won by Chris Robertson (Australia), who crushed David Lloyd (England), 9-0, 9-5, 9-0 in the final. In the plate competition, for all those who lost in the first round of the championship, Eliot Jones, of Wellington, beat Kjellker, of Sweden, 9-2, 9-5, 9-3, in the final.
