Plant fuels desire, cures ills

NZPA-Reuter Manila A shrub that grows in profusion along Philippine beaches and grasslands can increase sex drive and also cure gonorrhoea, according to the head of the National Research Council. The council’s executive director, Dr Hennes Gutierrez, said leaves of the cassia flower when eaten mixed with water could cure gonnorrhoea, but oil from the plant acted as an aphrodisiac.

Different parts of the plant could also be used to treat ulcers, skin sores, diarrhoea, headache, indigestion, and bladder complaints, said Dr Gutierrez in a paper.
