P.M. explains

PA Wellington The Wellington neurosurgeon, Mr Russell Worth, has said that he was pleased the Prime Minister had now set out the correct position about his report on the Minister of Customs, Mr Allen.

On Thursday, Sir Robert Muldoon said that he had had a communication from Mr Worth’s solicitors after remarks he had made at a press conference during the week.

He had since read the transcript of the conference. “Having assured myself as to what I said, and as there might be some misap-

prehension about the matter I wish to make two things plain,” Sir Robert said. “I did not, nor do not, say or suggest Mr Worth improperly reported to the police on Mr Allen, a person he had not medically examined. “I did not, nor do not, say or suggest that Mr Worth leaked this report - to the media.”

Mr Worth said that he was pleased to see that the Prime Minister had now set out the correct position.

“This is what I asked him to do and it is not appropriate for me to make any further comment,” he said.
