Wounding charge remand
A young woman who appeared in the District Court on Saturday on a wounding charge has been remanded on bail to April 27. Waiana Suzanne Kotara, aged 17, unemployed, did not plead to a charge of wounding Suzanne Margaret Berry with the intention of injuring her. The prosecutor, Detective Sergeant D. M. Quested, said that the alleged offence took place on Friday.
Detective Sergeant Quested said that the police did not oppose bail. Miss Berry was out of hospital and in the court, he told the Justices of the Peace, Mr S. J. Smith and Mrs H. M. Harkness. The duty solicitor, Mr T. W. Fournier, said in seeking bail that Kotara had a surety available and was living with her mother. Kotara was remanded on bail of $750 with a surety of the same amount.
