Museum staff

Sir,—Some clarification is necessary in regard to the item about the Canterbury Museum’s Antarctic cu«ator’s position in Saturday’s Press.” It was never intended to

appoint Mr Norris to a part-time position; he was simply to retain the post of honorary curator which he has held since 1967. It is also incorrect that Mr Harrowfield previously had responsibilities in vertebrate and invertebrate zoology and in pictorial history that are now being taken over by other staff. These fields, together with geology and the library, have always been, and will continue to be, handled by the museum’s specialist curators.— Yours, etc., MICHAEL M. TROTTER. Director, Canterbury Museum. April 21, 1984.
