World title retained
NZPA London Rhonda Thorne and Dean Williams, of Australia, have successfully defended their World Cup squash pairs title in Birmingham. They beat England’s Angela Smith and Stuart Davenport, of New Zealand.
Thorne had a 34-minute 13-8, 13-9, 13-10, win in the women’s match and Williams ensured victory when he took the opening game of the men’s match. Davenport, however, made him fight all the way for a 13-6, 13-10, 8-13, 13-10, win in 52 minutes.
