Wheels before feet

NZPA staff correspondent Washington A commuter who takes a ‘ train from Connecticut to New York every day found ; he had 15 minutes before • the train arrived to deposit i a cheque at his nearby bank. He found a long queue in front of the single teller, and decided to give up, but as he walked out the door he remembered the bank ' had a drive-in window. He parked himself behind the only vehicle there, then presented the cheque and a deposit slip. “Where's your car," asked the teller. “Over there.” he said, pointing to the station parking lot. "You are supposed to have a car here," she answered. “This is a drivein window." The traveller pulled out his wallet, “Look, I can prove I have a car. Here’s my registration." The teller grudingly banged her stamp on the deposit slip. "All right,” she said. “Just don’t let me catch you trying to bank on foot again."
