Insecticide spills at carrier’s yard
Two men were taken to hospital yesterday afternoon after a chemical spillage at Mogul Transportation, Ltd, Sockburn. The two men were not harmed by the chemical, an emulsifiable* concentrate of the insecticide dieldrin and were discharged from hospital. The spillage occurred at 2.47 p.m. at the company’s yard, when several drums inside a container began leaking, ’ a Fire Service spokesman said. Firemen removed the
containers, isolated the area and sealed the containers, which were later removed by a petrol company. The rest of the chemical was soaked up with sand and sawdust, and the area was washed down with water.
