‘Toy’ car ride draws the law

NZPA-AAP London Mr Martin McCann ran foul of the law when he took his son’s battery-powered car for a spin. Mr McCann was pulled up by the police in the £2300 ($4990) mini-car and was told that he could face 25 charges. The “Sun” newspaper said the little car had no lights, brakes or speedometer and was not registered. Mr McCann was also not wearing a seat belt. Mr McCann, a garage owner of Harrow in Middlesex, said, “It’s ridiculous. I’ll fight it in the highest court in the land.” He asserted that the car was a toy, but Scotland Yard said its driver could be prosecuted under the Road Traffic Act.
