Mount Vernon

Sir,—We support the Civic, Trust’s far-sighted initiative in seeking to buy the Mount Vernon block on the Port Hills. It is many' years since our forbears set aside Victoria Park. The population of; Christchurch has grown enormously and that park frequently seems overcrowded. Easier access to the tussock-covered open spaceSof the Port Hills between Hunts-' bury Hill and Murray Aynsley for recreational activities such as running, walking, picnicking, and horse riding will be of great benefit to all the people of Christchurch.—Yours,' etc., A. F. ROSS, ROSE HUME, A. B. CAMERON, L. R. RAINS, M. MAZE. April 12, 1984.
