Illness of M.P.s

Sir,—l am tired of reading and hearing about ill members of Parliament. If they can not work properly they should retire. I have had enough of governmental blunders by “fast track” and “think big” ideas that have been seen not to work. In your leading article of April 9 you said that members do not perform their full role when ill. This has happened to all of us when we have worked the hours often required of members of Parliament. We end up by cutting our hours. Surely the natural course should be to cut government involvement in the affairs of the country. Parliamentarians would have to work fewer hours and spend less of my money and we would end up with every job well done.—Yours, etc., E. SNYDER. April 10, 1984.
