Wheat deal
Elders IXL. Ltd, has sold 100.000 tonnes of Australian general purpose wheat through its international division to two independent stockfeed companies in South Korea. It is the first time an international wheat sale has been negotiated by private organisations independently of the Australian Wheat Board, which has monopoly powers. The company purchased the wheat through'the AWB at its quoted price. Elders, keen to expand international grain trading operations, has an office in Seoul and two stockfeed companies approached the company several months ago to buy wheat.
