Govt gives holidays from noise
NZPA-APP London The British Government is offering a group of families living near a Warwickshire highway site hotel holidays to escape the noise. According to reports in London the free accommodation offer comes after a bureaucratic blunder over construction of a new section of the M 42.
A Transport Department spokesman said the families had been promised double glazing to soundproof their homes. But the windows cannot be installed in time, so families with a noise problem will be given free hotel rooms.
“No cost limit has been put on the hotel accommodation,” said the spokesman. Some nearby hotels charge £5O a night for a double room.
