Mount Vernon Park
Sir,—Congratulations to the Christchurch Civic Trust for its wonderful project to buy Mount Vernon on the Port Hills. It appeals to me as the modern equivalent of the Hagley Park donation of last century. I enjoy Christchurch as a city of dignity and beauty and with Queen Elizabeth II Park, and now the projected addition of the Mount Vernon Park, Christchurch people appear to be providing just what today’s young people perceive as their recreational needs. I am an oldie, but I really look forward to walking in your Port Hills park. My donation will be in the bank tomorrow.—Yours, etc., CATHERINE REED. Nelson, April 11, 1984.
