Deaf Awareness Week
Sir,—A poster promoting Deaf Awareness Week bears the caption, “She’s deaf. And almost everyone she meets is blind.” We applaud the aims of the promotion, but consider it inappropriate to enhance public awareness of the effects of one form of sensory impairment by inferentially denigrating those who have the misfortune to be burdened with another. — Yours, etc., PAM CROTHALL (Miss), Canterbury branch secretary, N.Z.
