‘Case for technology —old or new’
Sir, — Derek Quigley, in his article, “Case for Technology — old or new” (“The Press,” April 9), is in essence presenting the old maxim: work hard, tighten the belt and eventually all will be well. Inherent in this is the assumption that increased productivity nationally is ultimately good for the individual. However, many economists would agree that this assumption rarely holds true.
