Polynesian festival planned
PA Auckland A Polynesian festival, which organisers hope will be the biggest held in New Zealand is planned for Auckland in late November. The director of the Pacific Islanders Educational Resources Centre, Sefulu Le Mamea loane, said that singers, dancers, and bands from throughout the Pacific would be invited. “For a whole week, from
November 24 to December 1, Auckland will sample culture, entertainment, and cuisine, of the South Pacific,” he said. “It will be a bit like Fiesta ’B4 (Auckland’s recent festival), but with a South Pacific flavour.” The concept was that of the Maori and South Pacific Arts group of the Queen Elizabeth II Arts Council, he said.
