Canty Museum appointment

The Canterbury Museum has appointed Mr David Harrowfield to take charge of its archive collections.

Mr Harrowfield, who in 1975 was appointed to help set up the museum’s Antarctic centre, will be responsible for archives relating to the Antarctic as well as those about the settlement and development of Canterbury.

Mr Baden Norris, who since 1967 has been the museum’s honorary curator of Antarctic relics, will assume curatorial responsibility for the Antarctic centre. Mr Norris is a well known authority on the Antarctic.

Other museum curators will continue to be responsible for their specialised
