Manu Motuhake to contest Porirua seat

PA Wellington The Mana Motuhake party will contest the Porirua seat at this year’s General Election in the party’s first bid for a general seat The party stood candidates for the four Maori seats in the 1981 elections. A Porirua branch has been formed and 20 people attended an election meeting this week to hear the party's Southern Maori candidate, Mr Amster Reedy.

Mr Reedy told the meeting that the party was considering other seats which had large Polynesian populations, particularly in Auckland.

Members of the newly formed branch were asked to look for suitable nominations for Porirua. The member of Parliament for Porirua is Labour’s Dr G. A. Wall.
