Former trainer fined

PA Auckland A former licensed trainer, Royce Francis Malcolm, of Auckland, has been fined $lOO and the horse, Aberman, disqualified from his win in the Remuera Handicap at Ellerslie on August 13 last year. Malcolm, appearing before a sub-committee of the executive of the New Zealand Racing Conference in Auckland, admitted starting Aberman, in his ownership, five times when the horse was ineligible under Rule 103, which deals with disabilities affecting ownerships. Malcolm was ordered to pay the winning stake of the Remuera Handicap, $4500, to the conference. The amended placings of the race are: Le Coquin 1, Crown and Anchor 2, Little Vic 3, and Turanganui and Campaigner equal 4. Malcolm, who was represented by Mr R. L. Congreve, was also ordered to pay $3OO costs.

The sub-committee consisted of Messrs R. A. Robinson (chairman), G. P. Donnelly and W. J. Sandman.

The chief racecourse inspector, Mr J. M. Fleming, presented the case on behalf of the Auckland inspector, Mr J. W. McKenzie, who brought the matter before the committee.
