Hastings filly in field for Rangiora feature race

By

J. J. BOYLE

Hint will have a North Island rival as she attempts to maintain an unbeaten record in the Southern Wrightson Filly Series at Rangiora on Monday. Clarehaven, an Avaray filly from the Sellwood stable at Hastings, is in the field of 12 for the Inglewood Stakes, the most valuable race at the North Canterbury Racing Club’s second autumn meeting. Clarehaven cleared maiden ranks on her home track in December and won over 2100 m at the Waipukurau meeting on March 30. Jim Cassidy was the successful jockey each time.

Clansman and Charles Beaufort will probably both run for the Dave Kerr stable in the Rangiora Handicap on Monday if the footing is good. Clansman is top weight with 58 and Charles Beaufort has 53.

Kerr said yesterday that he would engage Ali Robinson to ride Clansman and Chris Johnson for Charles Beaufort.

Top Blend, a winner under 54.5 in a weaker field at the first North Canterbury meeting, has 53.5 this time and will meet Hand-

some Heir, a close second, I.skg worse. The Rangiora Handicap will be the first leg of the T.A.B. double.

Cadmium and King Kaka are form horses from southern stables engaged in the Kaiapoi Handicap, the T.A.B. trifecta race and second leg of the T.A.B. double. The T.A.B. treble will be on races five, seven and 10 and there will be T.A.B. quinellas on all races.

There will be an oncourse treble on races 2, 3 and 4 and quinellas and trifectas on all races. Acceptances:— Race I.—
