Contentious sculpture attacked
NZPA-Reuter Palo Alto A vandal with a hammer seriously damaged a controversial sculpture depicting two homosexual couples installed recently at Stanford University, the police said. The bronze sculpture of the couples, one male and the other female, with their arms resting on each other suffered about $50,000 worth of damage, a spokesman said.
The sculpture was intended to be given to San Francisco, which has a large and influential homosexual community, but it was lent to Stanford while city officials debated whether to accept the gift.
