Lottery Board grants
Grants and subsidies totalling $271,846 have been given to organisations and individuals in the 1988-84 financial year by the New Zealand Lottery Board welfare services, distribution committee. The committee’s annual grant was $2.1 million from Golden Kiwi lottery proceeds.
the New Zealand National Marriage Guidance Council received $50,000 for its education and counselling service work, and the New Zealand Society for the
Intellectually Handicapped was given $25,000 for a “self advocacy” programme for intellectually handicapped people. Within Canterbury, the Kaiapoi District Nurse Maude Association received $5OO for home nursing and home aids, and the Christchurch Schizophrenia Fellowship received $5BOO for its “step ahead” rehabilitation project. The Canterbury Rehabilitation Hostels Association was given $2OOO for wages and the Family Life Education Council
(Canterbury) received $lOOO for courses in child developement and care and family living skills. . Other grants included: Society of St Vincent de Paul ($14,000), Federation of New Zealand Ostomy Societies ($500), N.Z. Red Cross Society ($16,000), Barnardo’s New Zealand ($14,000), Maori Women’s Welfare League ($2500), Friends of Waimate Hospital ($100), Manuka Community Playgroup, Nelson ($5000), Buller Hospital Comforts Committee ($5000).
