APPLICATIONS are Invited for the position of Senior Research Officer In the Centre for Agricultural Policy Studies. This research centre was established in January 1981, and undertakes analyses of basic or longer term Issues affecting the development and performance of agriculture and horticulture In New Zealand. The Centre has developed its role through studies in two inter-related areas. One Is concerned with basic trends and developments outside New Zealand in actual and potential Importing zones which determine the country’s export opportunities. In this major area, special attention is given to pespectlves in the Pacific Basin. The other main area of work is concerned with internal factors, such as incentives and organisation; which affect the performance of New Zealand farming, marketing and processing sectors in response to market opportunities. The successful applicant will be required to undertake and help supervise study projects in the first area. Applicants must have a post-graduate academic qualification in conomlcs, agricultural economics or business administration and preferably have at least five years research experience In fields such as agricultural commodity markets, agricultural trade analysis and the study of relevant national and Intermatlonal policies. The Bursar is the chief financial officer of the University and is answerable to the ViceChancellor, through the Registrar where appropriate, for all financial matters and for controlling recurrent and capital budgets. The appointee must possess a recognised■ accountancy qualification and have wide experience in' financial management, preferably in a University or other post-secondary educational institution. Salary will be in accordance with qualifications and experience in the range: $F24376-25362. In addition the University provides gratuity amounting to 15 per cent or basic salary, appointment allowance and, subject to the University's current housing policy, partly furnished accommodation at a rental of 12% per cent of salary.
