Encroachment on roadway
Sir,—As a regular visitor to Christchurch for shopping, but becoming less frequent because of parking problems in the inner city, I was amazed to see yet another encroachment on Hereford Street parking by some sort of protruding pavement outside the National Mutual Arcade. Is the Christchurch City Council attempting to wipe out inner city businesses or does it not realise the effect it is having on people who want to go to inner city businesses? I cannot understand how the closing off of streets and roadside parking benefits anyone. — Yours, etc.,
