Police to probe second-hand dealer
The Christchurch C. 1.8. will investigate whether to lay charges against a second-hand dealer after a query by Judge Frampton in the District Court this week.
Judge Frampton asked whether the second-hand dealer would face charges after hearing that he had bought stolen property valued at $1735 for $250. The Court was told that the property, part of a $4700 burglary haul, had been sold
by a youth, aged 17, to the dealer.
The prosecutor, Sergeant M. J. South, said that he would "have to look into the matter.”
Sergeant South said outside the court yesterday that he had prepared a report on the case which would be forwarded to the C. 1.8.
A spokesman for the Christchurch break squad said that the matter raised by the Judge would be examined.
