No evidence of bogus S.I.S. infiltration
PA Auckland A police inquiry has found no evidence of bogus Security Intelligence Service officers trying to infiltrate the New Zealand Party in Christchurch. The New Zealand Party spokesman, Mr Bob Jones, alleged late last year that two S.I.S. officers had searched the party’s political files in Christchurch.
The Prime Minister, Sir Robert Muldoon, said that no SI.S. officer was involved in any action involv-
ing the New Zealand Party, and if someone was. impersonating SJ.S. officers, he wanted to know about it
Deputy Assistant Commissioner B. R. Davies, head of crime and operations at Police National Headquarters, said that an inquiry team had been assigned to study S.I.S. impersonations.
“An extremely detailed investigation has failed to find any evidence of any offence having occured and the SJ.S. has been advised,” he said.
