Tickets for Games
PA Wellington New Zealand has fared well in ticket allocations for the Los Angeles Olympic Games, to begin in July. The New Zealand ticketing agent, Air New Zealand, said yesterday that almost 4500 tickets for track and field events would be among the more than 16,000 tickets on offer to New Zealanders wishing to attend the Games. These were available on a day pass basis and could be bought without the restrictions that applied to some other sports, said an Air New Zealand spokesman yesterday. Tickets for events apart from track and field have been divided into two categories — A and B. Category A covers the more popular events — the opening and closing ceremonies, cycling, diving, gymnastics, rowing, swimming, volleyball, water polo, wrestling, and weightlifting. Category B covers archery, baseball, boxing, equestrian, fencing, handball, hockey, shooting, soccer, and tennis. Applicants wanting category A tickets must also select an equal number from Category B, but tickets for the sports in category B were available without restrictions, the spokesman said. The method of sale and distribution had been determined by the Los Angeles Olympic Committee
