Tribute to Holst
-Peter Williams, John Harker, Malcolm Anderson and Howard Harvey are the Aurelian Singers. 'The quartet has been together since it was formed in. Christchurch 10 years ago by-Mary Adams Taylor, in response to a request from the Broadcasting Corporation for a group suitable for radio and television work ‘'Mrs Taylor is still the director of the group and Nan Anderson, the accompanist Aurelian Singers have performed regularly on radio and on television. Taey were. the resident quartet for the children’s series, “A Haunting We Will Oe.”
The' group has performed at two previous festivals in Christchurch, in 1976 and 1980 and in 1979 toured 11 North> Island towns with mezzo-soprano Anne Price.
For! this year’s festival the group will present a salute!to Holst to mark the fiftieth anniversary of his death and its own tenth anniversary.
As : well as songs and incidental music from chamber orchestra composed! by Holst, the group will present the composer’s one-apt comic opera, “The Scholar.” The performances will be in the State Trinity Theatre on March 13, 14 and 15.
