Man dies in car crash
An elderly man was found dead in a car which almost split in two after crashing through a safety fence on Panorama Road, Clifton Hill, about 8 p.m. yesterday. The Christchurch police identified the man late last evening, and were trying to reach hext-of-kin. He was the sole occupant of the car. The police are investigating whether the man, believed to be In his late 70s, died of natural causes or as a result of the accident. The late-model car apparently careered into the fence, on the seaward side of Panorama Road, and split almost in half. The front half of the vehicle was. hanging down a bank at a right angle to its rear section.
