’Paper man honoured

PA Nelson The chairman-designate of Independent Newspapers, Ltd, and its former managing director, Mr Alan Burnet, had life membership of the Newspaper Publishers’ Association conferred on him at the association’s annual conference at Nelson last evening. Mr Burnet, a former chairman of the New Zealand Press Association and former Reuter trustee, has been involved in the newspaper industry since soon after World War 11.

He holds directorships outside the newspaper industry including A.N.Z., Winstone, and Autocrat

Sanyo. He succeeds Mr Frank Kember as chairman of Independent Newspapers.
