Annual fishing contest
A fishing contest, part of a national circuit, will be held at the mouth of theWaimakariri River on March 10. The annual event, sponsored by Daiwa and Patience and Nicholson N.Z., Ltd, offers a prize of $4OO and a trophy to the senior fisherman who lands the heaviest fish. Other prizes for seniors and also for the junior section are offered. But the biggest lure is an expenses-paidtrip to Fiji — going to the angler who lands the heaviest fish on the national circuit A hard-luck prize will be given and those who fail to land a fish will be eligible for that drawn. The hours of fishing will be between 7 a.m. and 3.30 p.m.
