Lasers for drug search
NZPA staff correspondent Sydney The Australian police are considering developing a laser device to help them detect drugs inside couriers’ bodies. The head of the New
South Wales drug squad said drugs were often swallowed or hidden in the body to prevent detection, and a laser could show their presence.
He said women often carried drugs inside their bodies and posed problems for the police conducting body searches because of the fine line between what was legally permissible and what was not.
