Five schools raided
Burglars broke into at least five Christchurch
schools at the week-end. A video recorder, valued about $2OOO, was taken from Chisnallwood Intermediate
School, Breezes Road. Another school in Breezes Road, the Aranui Primary School, was broken into for the second successive weekend. The burglars were unsuccessful in their search for money. A classroom at St Mary’s Primary School, Colombo
Street, was entered and $5O taken.
About $lOO was taken after a break-in at Linwood High School, Aidwins Road.
Children are thought to be behind a break-in at Breens Intermediate School, Breens Road, some time on Friday evening, but nothing was taken. Vandals caused about $4OO worth of damage to a pool cover at the West Melton Primary School.
