Transcendental meditation
Sir,—Dr Lovell-Smith said on television (March 1) that there were no side effects of T.M I challenge that statement in the name of the Creator of mankind who said in His word: “Thou shalt have no other gods but me.” The T.M. yogi wants converts. The people start gently with meditation, get a good impression naturally, and become sect material. Part of joining the sect is to repeat the Sanskrit words: “To thee I bow down.” In other words, to worship the yogi. To be a T.M. member, you become a Hindu. The demonology in this situation is of the very worst kind. The long-term effects on physical and mental health can be fatal. Bowing down to a guru will, sadly, commit the soul to a Christless eternity.—Yours, etc ANTHONY LE CREN. March 1, 1984.
