Aerial acrobats at park
Five parachutists landed in North Hagley Park yesterday morning during a fund-raising campaign for the Southland flood victims.
The aerial acrobats from the Canterbury Skydiving Club were the prelude to the start of the Total Image skm fun run from Hagley Park to Jellie Park.
Mr Art Pickering, sports co-ordinator for Total Image, said that about 340 joggers took part in the run. “We were disappointed about the number of runners but rain overnight may have kept some away," he said.
The amount of money raised for the flood victims will not be known until this evening. Total Image has already given $2OOO to the flood appeal.
