INL has all of ‘S. Times’
PA Wellington The Invercargill daily newspaper, the “Southland Times,” has become a wholly owned subsidiary of Independent Newspapers, Ltd, of Wellington.
The chairman of INL, Mr Alan Burnet, said yesterday that the purchase of the total shareholding in the Southland Times Company, Ltd, had been completed.
Mr Burnet said that the initial approach had come from their Southland Times board. But negotiations on behalf of some shareholders had been conducted by Auckland merchant bankers Fay, Richwhite and Company, Ltd.
