Exercise criticised
PA . Wellington Corso and the Pacific People’s Anti-Nuclear Action committee have asked the New Zealand Government to withdraw from the Rimpac military exercise planned for May and June off Hawaii. In a statement yesterday, Corso said Rimpac involved the use as a target range of the island of Kaho’olawe, which Hawaiian people consider sacred to them. A delegation of native Hawaiian people was declined a meeting, the Minister of Defence, Mr McLay, saying that the designation of targets was a domestic matter for the United States, according to the statement.
