Warm weather in the last week of February boosted Christchurch's sunshine hours to 13 more than the average for the month. A total of 199 sunshine hours was recorded by the Meteorological Office, with the highest maximum temperature of 29.6 deg on February 26. This contrasted markedly with the first three weeks in February when temperatures were well below average at times.
