Nuclear-powered warships
Sir; — The Minister of Defence, Mr Thomson, has obviously got his facts wrong. He implied that all people who stand against nuclearpropelled, and therefore likely to be nuclear-armed, warships visiting New Zealand are branded as members of a Left-wing minority. Since I voted for the National Party in the last election, and also oppose such visits, does that mean Mr Thomson’s National Party is Left-wing? I think not. I, and no doubt many other people, would voice a similar protest at a Soviet warship visiting New Zealand waters. — Yours, etc., B. P. GABITES. February 28, 1984.
