Discrimination against women
Sir, — Those who attack traditional Christian viewpoints such as those expressed recently by Dr Viney (February 10) and H. G. Oram (February 25) often resort to personal attacks. The recent attack by Mr Stevens on the character of Miss Bartlett (February 24) is a case in point. We point out the obvious truth that these people being personally and unfairly attacked did not invent Christianity and should not be held personally responsible for its teachings. Nor have their Christian viewpoints been expressed without reference to earthly realities in a welldocumented logical way. There is a positive side also to encourage people to accept these God-given viewpoints. There is the lasting blessing and peace of Christian marriage, and much freedom from the scourges of addictions, diseases, crimes, and mental illnesses. — Yours, etc., JOHN CANHAM, GILLIAN CANHAM. February 27, 1984.
