Missing $4.5M package found
PA Wellington The $45 million worth of promissory notes reported missing by Marac Finance between Wellington and Auckland last week were found on Tuesday. The general manager of the Marac Corporation, Mr Gavin Walker, said from Auckland yesterday that the notes were found at the premises of Castle Couriers. “Castle Couriers is the company which has the contract to deliver documents on behalf of Marac between Auckland and Wellington,” Mr Walker said. He said the package containing the notes had been
found sealed and had not been tampered with. The package was delivered by New Zealand Railways Road Services to Auckland and picked up by Castle Couriers. “What happened to the package in Auckland is not clear,’’ Mr Walker said. “Someone eventually placed the package back on the loading bay at the couriers,” he said. Mr Walker said Marac had reviewed its security and was satisfied precautions were more than adequate. Discussions would be held with Castle Couriers about its security arrangements.
