Musical show
Radio U’s Thursday night musical show is on again this year. The “Di Somma—Hantier Musical Show” began last Thursday, and will be on every Thursday between 8 p.m. and 10 p.m. The show features musical soundtracks, and is compiled by Mark Di Somma and Callum Hantier. Mr Hantier said each programme was dealt with in a thematic manner. “We’ve taken the idea of grouping similar musical styles or associations in an attempt at continuity,” he said. Tonight’s show features Liza Minelli, and songs will be played from her album, “Liza with a Z,” and the musicals “Cabaret” and “New York, New York.” Next Thursday famous television and movie themes will be featured, including “Merry Xmas, Mr Lawrence,” “Dr Who” and “Cat People.” Shows in weeks to come will feature soundtracks from older musicals including “Singing in the Rain” and “Pennies from Heaven,” more recent musicals including “Quadrophenia” and “Tommy”, and a Tom Waits night, including excerpts from his soundtrack for “One From the Heart.”
